Union (formerly Studiobanks) launched a new website for Opera Carolina www.operacarolina.org, the largest professional opera company in the Carolinas with an operating budget of over $2.8 million. Earlier in the year, Union was chosen by the organization out of a group of area agencies to revamp the Opera Carolina online presence for the 2006-2007 season.
Fitting in alongside the Opera Carolina branding the new website aims to educate visitors about the opera as well as inspire them to attend. With the integration of motion and sound, the new Opera Carolina website is suited to immerse the visitor in the opera experience as well as provide a breath of information in an easy-to-use format without being overwhelming. Throughout the Opera Carolina 2006-2007 season, Union has laid out a plan to shift the focus of the website to feature each of the five scheduled operas: Madama Butterfly, Pagliacci/La Vida Breve, Rigoletto, Pirates of Penzance and Amahl & the Night Visitors. In this way, the web- site will additionally serve as a marketing tool to help promote opera attendance and provide a new experience for repeat visitors.
Part of Opera Carolina’s mission is to “inspire and entertain the region's diverse community through the presentation of excellent Opera, Operetta, Music Theater, and Education & Outreach programs.” Union believes that the new website will aid the organization in maintaining that promise.
