The UNION team would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! We love this time of year — getting together with family and friends, eating lots of good food and, of course, there’s football. With the Panthers 10-0, who wouldn’t be thankful for football?
This is also a great time to step back and recognize a few of the things we’re thankful for. First and foremost, we’re thankful for our amazing clients. Second, we’re thankful for all of our great team members who continue to do impressive work and inspire all of us.
As a digital marketing agency, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that we’re thankful for technology. One of the most exciting parts of our work is staying up-to-date on the latest digital tools.
We always enjoy learning about new digital tools that allow us to do something better and more efficiently. This is why we’d like to share a few of our favorite Thanksgiving apps. These apps should help reduce the stress of planning Thanksgiving and free up some time to spend with friends and family.
Making and keeping up with a Thanksgiving grocery list can be a hectic undertaking. AnyList makes it easy to create a list that automatically categorizes itself to help you save time at the store. Hands full? No worries! You can even add to your list via Siri. Our favorite feature is what we like to call the “significant other feature” — this feature allows you to share your list so that someone else can go pick up the groceries for you!
Butterball Cookbook Plus
When it comes to prepping and cooking your bird, Butterball has you covered! Designed with “Turketarians” in mind, this app provides dozens of marinade recipes, cooking tips and even how-to videos. With this app, your turkey is sure to come out just right!
Table Plan makes it easy to cultivate good conversations by allowing you to create seating charts for gatherings of all shapes and sizes. This means that you can avoid sitting next to Great Grandma, who is going to ask you for the fifth year in a row why you aren’t married. Cheers to organized seating!
Turkey Day wouldn’t be the same without football. (Have we mentioned that the Carolina Panthers are 10-0?) This app can be a lifesaver in situations where the dinner table is not near the TV. Who does that, anyway?
Black Friday Ads
This app makes planning your Black Friday shopping activities easier than ever. Build wish lists and keep track of deals at your favorite stores. This app is the perfect solution for post-turkey downtime!
Spotify’s Turkey Timer
Spotify’s Turkey Timer uses the data from the USDA’s roasting timetable and, based upon the weight and stuffing selection of your turkey, tells you how long your playlist needs to be. You simply choose your songs, enjoy the music and listen for the “DING!” If you have a variety of guests coming over, they also have some family-friendly lists already put together for you. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
This helpful travel app has pulled together past data to help you determine the best and worst times to travel around the holiday. According to their research, you’ll want to stay off the roads the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, as well as the Sunday after. Prime driving hours to avoid traffic are on Thanksgiving day before noon and after 4PM. Download this app to also see heavy traffic areas and to plan the best route for your travels.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Once your bird is in the oven, why not sit back with the family and watch the parade? Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday classic and has been on the air for over 85 years. For many families, this has become their favorite Thanksgiving tradition. Have favorite characters you want to keep an eye out for? This app allows you to keep up with and interact with the parade, as well as play family-friendly games.
The KitchenPad Timer was made to help the family chef keep track of multiple cook times at once. The timer tells you what’s on the stove, what’s in the oven and what temperature they should be. This app works better than the iPhone timer because it also stores the data associated with cooking different items for future use.
It happens to the best of us — we get home from the hour long, mad-dash, two-carts needed grocery expedition and realize we forgot the canned cranberry jelly. Not to worry! Peapod works with a number of grocery stores across the U.S. to deliver groceries directly to your front door.
We hope that everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving and that these apps make your day a little more enjoyable!
