The Battle of Tremont Hall

In: Culture

Union (formerly Studiobanks) tore it up at the AAF Dodgeball Ex-scare-aganza this year! And by tore it up, we mean that pizza buffet did not know what hit it. We were ruthless and quite literally very hungry. We actually didn’t place all that well when it came to the tournament, but you know, A for effort and all that.

All Gaming, All The Time

In: Culture

by Union

Got plans this weekend? Cancel ‘em. Starting bright and early at 8am on Saturday, October 15th, our very own Andy Mindler will be live-streaming his attempt to play video games for 24 hours straight. Much to everyone’s relief, this is not some new hobby Andy’s picked up, he’s doing it for the children! Or, rather, for charity. It’s all part of an Extra Life 24 hour gaming marathon event to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The (Union (formerly Studiobanks)) Hangover

In: Culture

by Union

Union (formerly Studiobanks) had its Open House last Thursday and man was it epic! Friday morning instead of the usual coffee and headline perusing, it was all face tattoos, tigers and whiteboard graffiti. Also, Andy was missing, which was not great news because he was supposed to be getting married on Sunday (true story, congrats Andy and Lindsay!). We’re not 100% sure what went down at the Open House, but here’s what we’ve pieced together so far: about 60 or so clients, friends and family showed up to help us celebrate our new office space and an awesome time was had by all. Thankfully Chris was on photography duty and managed to capture some of the mayhem for posterity (check it out on our Flickr stream). Big thanks to everyone who came out and made it such an awesome time!

Our upgrade to Leopard

In: Culture

We've been waiting for the launch of Apple’s new OS X upgrade, Leopard. Well, it showed up last week and we have now all upgraded. I thought I would detail out some of the features we have found useful along with some of the major issues we have experienced. First off, Leopard seems to be more network friendly than Tiger (OS X 10.4). In Tiger, we had to manually connect to our office server every time we restarted our computers. It was quite annoying. So much so that Robbie wrote a custom AppleScript to automount our server on start up. Now Leopard does that for us automatically. We also do not have to manually connect to each others computers when sharing files!

The New AIGA.org CMS

In: Culture

by Union

Designer Naz Hamid recently posted some screens of the new AIGA.org content management system (CMS) on his website Weight Shift. It's a page-based publishing system, which differentiates it from our own record-based Toolbox CMS. But, I'm not trying to pitch you on our Toolbox.
