Charlotte Nature Museum, operated by Discovery Place, Inc. as a satellite interactive center, offers hands-on activities within a creative yet structured learning environment. During Discovery Place's $31.6 million renovation – the largest in its 27-year history – the organization realized its hard-to-use website had to go. The site lacked user interface strategy, brand consistency and content management capabilities. To overcome this tremendous challenge, Discovery Place approached Union (formerly Studiobanks) to give its digital marketing platform a makeover, including a new website for Charlotte Nature Museum.
After fully understanding and defining the organization’s diversified goals, complex challenges and overall brand positioning, Union developed a strategic platform that combined an energetic, scalable design and superior information architecture. We applied this platform to launch a trio of integrated websites for <a href="http://www.studiobanks.com/work/detail/discovery-place-website">Discovery Place</a>, Charlotte Nature Museum and <a href="http://www.studiobanks.com/work/detail/discovery-place-kids-website">Discovery Place Kids</a>, all of which share a common layout structure yet maintain unique brand positioning and content. Each website enables guests to seamlessly plan their visits, explore exhibits, order tickets and more. Plus, complete content management capabilities for the Discovery Place team.
